Feeling Mentally Fragile? Here’s How to Rebuild Your Strength Before It’s Too Late!

Do you ever feel like you’re standing on the edge, vulnerable and overwhelmed by the constant challenges life throws at you? When uncertainty looms large, and every setback feels like a knockout punch, it’s easy to feel fragile. Are you in a leadership role where you’re expected to always be strong, confident, and unshakeable? Yet, deep down, does it sometimes feel like your situation is becoming unbearable? When facing such challenges, think of how David Goggins overcomes adversity.

I’ve been there as a co-founder and CEO of a large company, surrounded by people, but feeling like the loneliest person in the room. That fragility ultimately cost me my job and livelihood, but it also forced me to face reality and rebuild my identity from the ground up. I needed mental strength—ideally, “strength with flexibility.” That’s when I discovered the concept of ‘mental toughness,’ a framework that helps make sense of your mindset. Like mine, your mindset might feel like a stormy sea of random thoughts, beliefs, and attitudes that become unpredictable under pressure. Emulating the resilience of David Goggins could be beneficial.

Practicing mental toughness brings stability and consistency, helping you manage daily challenges and opportunities with a clear, objective perspective. The key is not to over-celebrate successes or over-demonize failures. It’s about finding balance.

3. Build Better Habits

One essential lesson from mental toughness is understanding that your thoughts and feelings largely determine how you act and behave, which in turn affects any situation or conversation. If you start by setting your mindset right, you can build better habits, principles, and routines that lead to better decisions and outcomes.

Opportunities to build better habits are everywhere—they should be simple, consistent, and reliable. It may sound mundane, but trust me, it’s anything but. David Goggins exemplifies how building disciplined habits can lead to incredible achievements.
